At the Sphere showroom during Paris Fashion Week, GARDOUCH’s SS27 collection, The Rings of Saturn, unfolds through fragments rather than chronology. It draws on the childhood of designer Rémy Guerra’s grandfather, assembling a past carried through stories, memory and distance. Saturn’s rings function as structure, a way of thinking about what lingers after time has passed.
The collection turns away from the designer’s own childhood and toward that of his grandfather, the son of Spanish immigrants who grew up between southwestern France and the Pyrenees in the 1950s. Instead, it emerges in fragments, shaped by stories, traces, and gaps that never fully close.
That inherited world shapes the clothes. Tailoring and ceremonial dress sit alongside sportswear rooted in football and rugby culture in southwestern France. One language belongs to communions and Sunday dress, the other to repetition and physical use. Together they map a childhood through what was worn.

The Tour de France returns each year as a seasonal constant. In the Pyrenees, it structures summer itself, crowds gathering along roadside climbs, waiting for movement to pass through. Elsewhere, lead soldiers and post-war toys appear as remnants of a childhood shaped in the aftermath of history. References build gradually rather than resolving into fixed symbols, forming a vocabulary made of fragments.
The influence of post-war France runs through the collection in quieter ways. Parisian fashion once moved outward through magazines, shaping provincial wardrobes that were copied, adapted and reworked. Within the collection, this becomes a memory of aspiration, visible in tailoring that carries the weight of something once seen rather than owned.
The Rings of Saturn holds its references in motion. A childhood reconstructed through inheritance and distance never settles into a single form. Like Saturn’s rings, it holds together through fragments that continue to orbit.
